Kremlin rejects proposals to halt military actions along the contact line amid international negotiations
The Kremlin officially announced that it does not support the idea of stopping military operations along the contact line between conflict parties, despite statements made by U.S.
leader Donald Trump regarding the possibility of halting Russian and Ukrainian troops at their current positions to initiate peace negotiations.
Presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Russia’s stance on this matter remains unchanged, describing Trump’s statements simply as ‘newspaper reports’ that reopen discussions without any concrete intentions from Moscow.
According to sources, including the Russian agency Interfax, these statements aim to signal to the international community that Moscow maintains its consistent position on the conflict.Recently, during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump expressed his desire to settle the conflict in eastern Ukraine and proposed stopping hostilities at the contact line.
He claimed that Russia had threatened to destroy Ukraine if it refused to accept their terms but later denied pressuring Zelensky to transfer control of Donbas to Moscow.
The conflict and its international aspects remain complex and subject to intense debate, with Russia’s official position standing firm, defending its interests and asserting the inviolability of its borders and territorial integrity.
