How Pensioners Can Complete Video Identification: Step-by-Step Guide

Chas Pravdy - 20 October 2025 06:30

Ukrainian pensioners continue to receive their social payments, including pensions; however, due to digital transformation processes in public services, some are required to undergo a video identification procedure.

This process allows verification of identity via a video conference with specialists from the Pension Fund of Ukraine, offering a more convenient and faster method of identification without the need for personal visits to offices.

The Head Office of the Pension Fund in the Zakarpattia region explained how to correctly use the video identification service on the PFU web portal.

To submit an application for this service, pensioners need to log into the official e-services portal of the Pension Fund, select the tab “Application for identification via video conference,” and familiarize themselves with the information regarding eligible categories.

If eligible, they should click “Continue,” then fill out a form by providing personal details, identification document data, email address, and phone number for contact purposes.

The next step involves selecting the method of conducting the video identification—via popular applications such as Google Meet, Signal, Telegram, Viber, WhatsApp, or Zoom.

Additional options, like requesting a sign language interpreter or physical accompaniment, can also be specified if needed.

It is also important to indicate if the pensioner temporarily resides outside Ukraine.

Once all information is provided, the applicant must consent to receiving email notifications and click “Submit Application.” The Pension Fund clarified that identification documents, such as passports, pension certificates, tax identification number certificates, birth certificates, or employment records, can be attached as scanned files, with each file not exceeding 1 MB in size.

After processing, an email will be sent to the provided address with details of the date and time for the video session.

In the first half of 2025, the number of pensioners and recipients of state benefits increased, but the Pension Fund’s report indicates that this growth does not necessarily translate into substantial improvements in pensioners’ quality of life.
