Threat of a Large-Scale Conflict: US Warns of Hamas Preparation for Attacks on Gazan Civilians

Chas Pravdy - 19 October 2025 12:29

In August 2023, the international community found itself once again on the brink of a new escalation of conflict in the Middle East.

The US State Department officially announced that the militant group Hamas is developing plans for a new aggression against the civilian population of Gaza.

According to diplomats, there is a serious likelihood that the organization will break the established ceasefire regime, which was reached through international mediation and aimed at stabilizing the region.

The US emphasized that they have already informed the guarantor countries about ‘credible intelligence’ regarding Hamas’s plans and warned that if the attack scenario is executed, necessary measures will be taken to protect Gazan civilians and preserve the peace agreement.

American officials highlighted that the primary focus remains on minimizing human losses and preventing a new regional crisis.

At the same time, Palestinian and Israeli armed forces conduct active operations in the region.

Media reports indicate that Israel has struck targets in Rafah and other southern areas of Gaza in response to attacks from Palestinian militants.

Mediators such as Egypt and Qatar are attempting to contain further escalation, but tensions continue to rise.

Given the tense situation, the international community is increasingly concerned about the prospects of another war with potentially catastrophic consequences for regional security and humanitarian conditions.

Ukraine, although geographically distant from the conflict, observes the developments with anxiety, understanding that any flare-up could impact global stability.

Experts warn that only diplomatic efforts and active peace diplomacy can keep the situation under control and prevent a new war, which has long been brewing in this conflict.

Emphasis is also placed on the importance of international solidarity to support peace processes and protect civil rights and freedoms in the region.
