Russian Troop Tactics Evolve in Donetsk Region: The Situation in Yampol and Surroundings

Chas Pravdy - 19 October 2025 06:20

In the Yampol area of Donetsk, Russian forces are deploying new tactical approaches aimed at advancing their positions and gaining greater control over the territory.

Following unsuccessful attacks from the north, which resulted in limited success, the Russians shifted their focus to forests extending over large territories up to Lyman.

According to the Ukrainian resource DeepState, which updates its interactive combat maps regularly, the enemy has begun concentrating their forces in forested areas north of Yampol and is attempting to cross the railway in order to penetrate the village.

Ukrainian drone operators are actively thwarting these attempts by destroying enemy equipment and personnel during assaults.

Currently, the front line remains tense: the enemy is trying to circumvent Yampol from the west, hiding in wooded areas, to find entry points into the settlement.

Military experts emphasize that these tactics continue to be employed today, with individual or groups of enemy soldiers sometimes entering the village only to be quickly neutralized.

Overall, Ukrainian forces maintain their defense, preventing Russian advances in key directions.

The Ukrainian General Staff reports seven enemy assaults near Dronivka and Vyimka, as well as increased activity of sabotage groups in the region.

Earlier, Ukrainian forces successfully liberated the village of Sosnivka in the Oleksandrivka sector of Dnipropetrovsk region, providing hope for the gradual recapture of temporarily occupied territories.
