Russian shelling on Chernihiv region causes significant damage to energy infrastructure
On the evening of October 19, Russian military forces launched a missile strike on a critical energy facility in Chernihiv region, resulting in extensive damage and a large-scale power outage affecting thousands of Ukrainian residents.
The incident was confirmed by Chernihivoblenergo, which reported that approximately 55,000 consumers were left without electricity due to the attack.
Energy specialists indicated that the damage was quite substantial, and repair crews are already preparing for emergency recovery work as soon as security conditions improve.
This incident followed a similar attack on October 18 in the same area, which left over 17,000 residents without power.
Chernihivoblenergo also reminded residents to remain calm, observe informational silence, and follow personal safety measures.
These damages serve as further confirmation that the conflict continues to impact vital infrastructure, hampering the country’s stability and energy security.
