Romanian MEP from Moscow Threatens Zelensky: ‘I Will Break His Legs’ Over Visit to Romania

Chas Pravdy - 19 October 2025 19:33

In a highly controversial and provocative statement, Romanian Member of the European Parliament and leader of the S.O.S party, Diana Iovanovici-Shoshoake, issued a stern warning to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

She threatened that she would «break his legs» if he dares to visit Romania to speak in the national parliament.

The threat was made in her post, where she recounted her trip to Moscow at the invitation of the ‘Friends of Russia’ organization.

She claimed that any attempt by Zelensky to deliver a speech in the Romanian Parliament would be met with hostility, citing the Romanian Constitution, which designates parliamentarians as the sole representatives of the country’s sovereignty and, therefore, obligated to defend Romania’s independence.

She also spoke about perceived discrimination against the Romanian minority in Ukraine, which she claims numbers around one million people, alleging that Kyiv has banned them from speaking Romanian, praying, and practicing Orthodoxy.

Furthermore, she alleged that the bishop of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) Longin was beaten, hospitalized, and poisoned.

Iovanovici-Shoshoake stressed that he cares for over 400 children, while claiming that Zelensky’s regime killed more than ten of them in one day.

Her statements included references to a map of ‘Greater Romania’ and calls for the return of occupied territories, with emotional outbursts.

Following her remarks, she was banned from entering Ukraine in March 2024 due to anti-Ukrainian statements and support for Russia.

In July 2024, now an MEP, she also proposed blessing the European Parliament to ‘cleanse it from devils’ and previously initiated the cancellation of Zelensky’s speech in the Romanian Parliament in October 2023.
