Russian Attack Drones Strike Sumy: Passenger Train Damaged and Two People Injured
On October 18, Russian forces launched a missile attack on the civilian infrastructure of Sumy, causing significant damage and injuries among civilians.
According to the regional military administration, attack drones were used during the assault, hitting a passenger train at the railway station.
The impact shattered windows in the wagons and in passenger areas, also partially damaging railway infrastructure, including tracks and station buildings.
Fortunately, no fatalities were reported, but two individuals sustained injuries of varying severity.
A fire broke out as a result of the blast, which rescuers promptly controlled.
The State Emergency Service (SES) confirmed that two strikes targeted different parts of the city, with shockwaves causing additional damage to nearby residential and commercial buildings.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the attack, but it is already known that it was carried out by unmanned aerial vehicles, again indicating the increasing use of drone technology in combat attacks against Ukrainian civilian infrastructure.
