Recent Explosions in Several Ukrainian Cities: Russian Drones Attack in a Fragile War Environment
On the night of October 18, several Ukrainian cities once again fell under attack by Russian kamikaze drones known as ‘Shaheds.’ Around midnight and shortly thereafter, powerful explosions were reported in Cherkasy, Zaporizhzhia, and Poltava regions.
According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, air defense systems responded in Zaporizhzhia, and there were reports of combat drones launched toward the city, particularly from the Zavodskyi district.
Ukrainian sources in Cherkasy confirmed explosions following what appeared to be radio reports.
Later, around 00:30, ‘Suspilne’ reported loud blasts in Poltava, where alerts about possible drones were also issued.
Military officials indicate that the enemy actively utilizes attack drones to complicate the situation, with Ukrainian air defense forces continuing to fight for citizens’ safety.
Authorities urge residents to stay in safe places during alarms as attacks persist across several regions, part of Russia’s targeted strategy to psychologically and physically exhaust Ukraine.
