General Mobilization and Search Procedures: What Ukrainians Need to Know During Wartime
Ukraine is currently undergoing widespread military mobilization accompanied by a declaration of martial law to strengthen national defense amid ongoing conflict.
Reservists who violate military registration rules or neglect their mobilization duties may be listed as wanted, and failure to pay fines can lead to law enforcement agencies re-adding them to the wanted list.
Attorney Natalya Gnatyk from the law firm ‘Aktum’ explains why the ‘Reserves+’ mobile app still shows a wanted notice even after fines are paid.
This occurs because, in some cases, the wanted status reappears after a payment due to the specifics of record-keeping and individual circumstances of each reservist.
Paying fines is considered a temporary measure; it does not completely resolve the issue.
Gnatyk recommends using this opportunity to be removed from the wanted list and to arrange lawful deferments or solutions subsequently.
Since September 1, Ukraine’s higher education institutions have introduced mandatory basic military training for students, preparing young people for possible mobilization and defense tasks.
Those who fail to complete this training may face additional mobilization risks.
