Continuous Attacks and Enemy Tactics in Pokrovsk Sector: New Challenges for Ukrainian Forces

Chas Pravdy - 17 October 2025 03:40

The situation in the Pokrovsk sector remains tense and difficult for Ukrainian defenders.

The enemy is concentrating its efforts on ongoing drone attacks, utilizing various tactics to achieve their goals.

According to reports from commanders, the Russians are capable of launching hundreds of drones simultaneously, allowing them to hit selected targets even from long distances without much difficulty.

They carry out small group raids, using destroyed buildings and shelters for cover while waiting for reinforcements for further offensive operations.

Additionally, due to weather conditions such as rain and fog, the enemy attempts to reduce their visibility to aerial reconnaissance by employingsmokes and camouflage tactics, including moving in civilian clothes, which violates wartime conduct norms.

Military sources note that the intensity of shelling has increased significantly, with Ukrainian positions being hit daily by more shells and missiles than during weeks or months prior.

The enemy actively concentrates their weapons and troops around Pokrovsk, pushing deeper into Ukrainian defenses and aiming to eliminate our positions.

Mechanized assaults are now less frequent, replaced by drone strikes and electronic warfare tactics.

Ukrainian forces employ modern equipment, including FPV drones, which effectively destroy targets in enemy rear areas at distances of over 40 kilometers.

However, breakthroughs into enemy lines pose risks to our crews, who travel long distances and sometimes face the destruction of robotic ground complexes.

Military experts emphasize that the Russians can launch a hundred drones simultaneously and target only one or two specific objectives, which complicates Ukraine’s defense efforts.

Also documented are the so-called ‘zombie assaults,’ where groups of Russian soldiers move openly across fields in daylight, making themselves vulnerable to Ukrainian airstrikes and reconnaissance drones.
