US covert operations in Venezuela: a new phase in global geopolitics
Recent investigative reports reveal that the administration of President Donald Trump secretly authorized the CIA to undertake covert military and intelligence operations within Venezuela.
This move marks a significant escalation in Washington’s strategy to weaken Nicolás Maduro’s regime, particularly as the region faces possible active interventions.
According to US officials, this decision allows the agency to carry out both lethal and non-lethal operations aimed at destabilizing Maduro’s government and supporting opposition forces.
Militarily, the US has already deployed around ten thousand troops across the Caribbean, mainly based in Puerto Rico, with additional naval vessels and submarines operating in the area.
Director of the CIA, John R.
Retkli_ff, emphasized the need for assertive and proactive actions to remove Maduro from power by any means necessary.
In response, Maduro has threatened to retaliate against the US, accusing Washington of threatening to intrude on Venezuelan territory.
President Trump himself confirmed that the US is considering ground operations, raising the possibility of a significant escalation in the conflict.
Reports also indicate increased US military presence, with claims of destroying vessels in Venezuelan waters and accusations of drug trafficking.
These developments might be just the initial phase of a broader campaign to change the regime in Caracas.
