New Explosions and Damage to Energy Infrastructure in Russia: Drones Strike Multiple Regions
Several regions of the Russian Federation have once again been rocked by destructive explosions caused by unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks.
According to Russian authorities, energy infrastructure facilities, including substations, have been compromised, leading to power outages in various settlements across two regions.
Deputy Governor of the Volgograd Region, Andrey Bocharov, reported that air defense forces successfully repelled a mass drone attack targeting regional energy facilities.
During this operation, debris from downed UAVs caused a fire at the Balashovskaya substation in the Novomykolaivskyi district, which is now being contained.
Bocharov emphasized that repair crews are working swiftly to restore power, with no significant damage or casualties reported.
Similarly, Governor of the Voronezh Region, Alexander Gusev, confirmed that there are no casualties or major destructions, although several towns are temporarily without electricity due to emergency repairs following the drone attack.
In addition, several Russian airports—namely Volgograd, Samara, Saratov, and Tambov—introduced restrictions on arriving and departing flights amid ongoing drone threats.
Residents of Saratov reported hearing numerous explosions during the night.
The Russian military stated that during the night they intercepted and destroyed over 51 Ukrainian drones, including 12 over the Saratov region, 11 over Volgograd, 8 over Rostov, four in Bryansk and Voronezh regions, three over Belygorod, and one in Kursk.
Furthermore, six drones were reportedly shot down over occupied Crimea, and one each over the Black and Azov Sea waters.
