Israel, Hamas, and Donald Trump: Who Wins in the Region and What Lies Ahead

Chas Pravdy - 16 October 2025 13:46

Last Monday, global leaders and the international community observed a remarkable and unexpected episode in the history of Middle East peace processes — the signing of a declaration that, in essence, bears no legal or binding commitments, yet already provides grounds for cautious optimism regarding a potential reduction in regional tensions.

This document, titled ‘Trump’s Declaration of Sustainable Peace and Prosperity,’ emerged amid widespread criticism and skepticism about its capacity to guarantee long-term stability.

Nevertheless, despite the lack of concrete conditions in the text, previously agreed-upon statements and actions by the parties involved indicate that the first phase of Donald Trump’s plan is moving forward rapidly.

Currently, analysts cautiously assess that progress in this direction has been successful, despite numerous challenges and delays.

Is this a true victory or merely the beginning of a long quest for enduring peace in the region? U.S.

President Donald Trump exudes confidence and a desire to solidify his achievements.

During visits to Jerusalem and Sharm El-Sheikh, he made bold declarations and calls for unity.

However, the story surrounding this declaration, with its weak legal substance and complex political maneuvers, leaves many questions unanswered.

Does Trump genuinely believe that signing this declaration will finally end the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict? Or is it just a symbolic act to boost his image on the international stage? Currently, amid regional political battles and internal disagreements within the countries involved, efforts towards peace are progressing in parallel tracks.

What remains clear is that the focus is now on finalizing short-term agreements and creating basic conditions for further stabilization.

In this context, the question arises: how realistic are the chances that these declarative and sometimes superficial efforts will translate into the establishment and consolidation of lasting peace?
