Emergency power outages introduced across Ukraine amid energy crisis

Chas Pravdy - 16 October 2025 10:20

In several regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv and its surrounding areas, urgent measures have been put in place to stabilize the country’s energy system.

Due to increasing electricity shortages and efforts by military and energy authorities to address the situation, emergency power outages are being implemented in various regions to prevent a larger energy crisis.

According to DTEK’s press service and local energy providers, residents of Kyiv, Kyiv Region, and other parts of the country are receiving notifications through apps and official channels about these emergency blackouts.

Specifically, Kirovohrad and Poltava regions are already experiencing restrictions, connected to ongoing war-related infrastructure damages.

Ukrainian energy operators report that in Dnipropetrovsk Region, emergency shutdowns are being carried out in response to a critical power deficit caused by infrastructure destruction and military actions.

Additional reports of emergency outages are coming from Sumy region, highlighting the growing instability of the energy system across Ukraine.
