UK Boosts Military Support to Ukraine: Over 85,000 Drones Delivered in Six Months

Chas Pravdy - 15 October 2025 03:23

Over the past six months, the United Kingdom has significantly ramped up its military aid to Ukraine by delivering more than 85,000 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), greatly enhancing the Ukrainian armed forces’ defensive capabilities amid ongoing conflict.

The UK government publicly announced that this volume of supplies marks an important contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s frontline, particularly through the deployment of FPV drones, which, as Defense Minister Ben Wallace emphasized, play a crucial role in maintaining the battlefield’s stability.

Wallace pointed out that the heightened tensions in Ukraine and across Europe caused by Russian escalation require increased drone manufacturing and NATO air defenses to counter threats.

The UK, together with Latvia, leads a coalition that is procuring advanced interception systems to defend Ukraine from Iranian Shahed drones, with plans to sign new contracts soon for thousands of additional interception units to bolster security.

In June, it was revealed that the UK plans to invest a record GBP 350 million in 2025 for expanded drone supplies, targeting over 100,000 units next year.

Ukraine and the UK recently signed an agreement to produce Ukrainian interceptors, with the Project Octopus drone serving as the flagship for their joint defense initiative.
