Status ‘Wanted’: What to Know After Paying a Fine During Military Mobilization

Chas Pravdy - 14 October 2025 04:24

Amid ongoing martial law and broad mobilization in Ukraine, there are many questions regarding the legal status of reservists and their rights.

During wartime, when conscripts receive summons, it is crucial to understand that the ‘wanted’ status can appear even after fulfilling financial obligations, such as paying fines.

According to lawyer Natalya Gnatik from the law firm ‘Aktum,’ if a reservist misses a summons or notification but pays the fine and admits guilt, the ‘wanted’ status is removed from the ‘Reserve+’ app system.

However, if new violations occur afterward, the individual can be put back on the wanted list.

Expert emphasizes that online fine payment is an effective mechanism for those with only a single violation.

For those with multiple violations, paying fines often does not solve the problem completely.

She also shared that in her legal practice, there have been cases where individuals paid fines but were still unable to obtain or cancel military reservations, as the system does not allow re-payment or resolution once the status is active.

Some individuals who paid fines quickly applied for reservations, while others faced issues where the system prevented them from removing their ‘wanted’ status.

This is particularly problematic for employees of critical infrastructure enterprises who need official clearance to continue working.

The expert warns that attempts to resolve ‘wanted’ status issues through private arrangements with military offices are not supported by legislation and remain unofficial, creating potential legal complications.
