Sikorsky Demonstrates Iranian ‘Shahed’ Drone in UK Parliament: A New Challenge for Global Security
Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorsky made a surprising and significant speech in the UK Parliament, showcasing an Iranian drone of the ‘Shahed’ type, which Russia actively uses in its war against Ukraine.
This move aims to draw international attention to the scale and nature of technological support for Russian aggression provided by Iran.
According to Sikorsky, this demonstration underscores the danger posed by such drones used to terrorize Ukrainians and cross European borders.
He pointed out that although the drone cannot reach London, its presence in the parliament symbolizes a global problem — the use of decoy drones and related technology for attacks that threaten critical infrastructure.
The Russian regime employs these drones not only for terrorist purposes but also for strikes in territories bordering the European Union, Sikorsky emphasized.
During his speech, he also stressed that united efforts, mutual support, and information sharing are crucial to counter these threats.
It is also worth recalling that in February, Sikorsky previously displayed a ‘Shahed’ drone, shot down by Ukrainian forces, at a Conservative Political Action Conference in the US, highlighting Poland’s active role in supporting Ukraine and countering Russian aggression.
Discussions around establishing a ‘Polish drone wall’ along the EU’s eastern borders and involving neighboring countries in intercepting such drones are becoming increasingly relevant amid growing regional threats and attacks.
