Amid ongoing international debates surrounding the Ukraine crisis and efforts to de-escalate the conflict, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadenfuell has called on former U.S.

President Donald Trump to increase pressure on Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Wadenfuell highlighted that after playing a mediating role in resolving the Gaza Strip conflict, Trump possesses experience and influence that could be leveraged to foster a diplomatic solution in Ukraine.

During a meeting in Sofia with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georgiy Georgiev, Wadenfuell emphasized that promoting peace negotiations should be a top priority for the international community. The minister stressed that it is crucial not only to resume diplomatic efforts but also to prevent the escalation of hostilities that could occur if efforts are delayed or insufficiently persistent.

He expressed confidence in the U.S.

administration’s potential to make progress, noting that Trump has recently indicated interest in achieving peace agreements globally.

Wadenfuell urged both the international community and the United States to make maximum efforts now to launch a new peace initiative to prevent further escalation of the conflict. It is noteworthy that Trump previously stated that following the Gaza conflict, attention should be focused on ending Russia’s war against Ukraine.

In his remarks, he emphasized that Putin is capable of ending the war but requires political will and diplomatic steps.

His words underscore a desire to increase diplomatic pressure and rally the international community to actively participate in resolving the ongoing conflict, which has lasted over three years.
