Zelensky outlines possible funding sources for delivering Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking during a joint press conference with European diplomacy chief Kaja Kallas in Kyiv, revealed various options for financing the potential delivery of American Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine, should the United States agree to this transfer.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine currently has several viable methods to fund such a move, including leveraging reparations loans, utilizing frozen assets held in Russia, and implementing NATO’s PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) initiative aimed at purchasing necessary weapons for Ukraine, or through a so-called ‘mega-deal.’ Zelensky emphasized that discussing the specific number of missiles at this stage is premature, although he has already shared some insights with President Trump personally.

Certain matters, he explained, require private negotiations.

Regarding the frozen Russian assets, the president noted that this mechanism still needs to be politically approved, stressing that most world leaders support this approach, but quick political decisions are essential.

Kallas, in turn, pointed out that Ukraine is best positioned to determine its own needs, whether it be Patriot missile systems or Tomahawks, and highlighted ongoing efforts to coordinate support initiatives.

Recently, Zelensky had multiple phone conversations with President Trump, during which he expressed concerns about possible Russian interference if the U.S.

supplies Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles.

Trump indicated he might inform Russian President Vladimir Putin of the potential transfer if the conflict does not resolve swiftly.

Russian security chief Dmitry Medvedev responded to Trump’s remarks with characteristic harshness, escalating tensions further.
