Tropical Storms in Mexico Cause Massive Devastation and Human Tragedies

Chas Pravdy - 13 October 2025 05:15

In Mexico, the tropical storms ‘Priscilla’ and ‘Raymond’ have impacted numerous regions across the country.

Over the past few days, heavy rains and flooding caused widespread floods and landslides in central and eastern areas.

As a result, at least 44 people have lost their lives, with the highest death toll recorded in the state of Veracruz—18 victims, followed by 16 in Hidalgo, nine in Puebla, and one in Queretaro.

The government has declared a state of emergency and mobilized national resources to assist those affected.

President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that the government has activated all possible means for relief and recovery efforts.

More than 5,400 troops have been deployed to help evacuate residents from danger zones, monitor the situation, and clear debris.

The National Emergency Committee is operating around the clock, providing updates through social media and regional agencies.

The scale of destruction underscores the urgent need for coordinated response efforts to restore and support the affected communities.
