International Tensions and U.S. Actions Toward Venezuela: Potential Scenarios for Maduro

Chas Pravdy - 13 October 2025 12:27

Recent reports from U.S.

political circles reveal escalating tensions between the administration of Donald Trump and the government of Venezuela, which could impact regional and global stability.

According to independent sources, the U.S.

has intensified efforts to counter Nicolás Maduro’s regime, declaring intentions to employ diplomatic and military measures.

Specifically, the U.S.

officially designated certain Venezuelan drug cartels as terrorist organizations, opening opportunities for sanctions and military interventions against drug trafficking.

Moreover, the U.S.

conducts strikes against vessels suspected of transporting drugs from Venezuela and refuses diplomatic engagement with Caracas, aiming to pressure Maduro into resignation.

Recently, the Trump administration announced a $50 million bounty for information leading to Maduro’s arrest.

The possibility of Maduro being officially recognized as a drug lord and terrorist further heightens the prospects of targeted operations against him.

Concurrently, Venezuela has called for an urgent UN Security Council meeting in response to U.S.

actions in the Caribbean, raising regional instability concerns.

Maduro, in power since 2013, faces internal protests and lack of international recognition.

The U.S.

does not recognize his legitimacy, supporting opposition candidate Edmundo Guaidó.

In 2020, Washington accused Maduro of drug trafficking, increasing the reward money from 15 million to 50 million dollars, signaling the U.S.

firm stance against the Venezuelan leader.
