Fighting at Kyiv Metro: Teenagers Attack Young Man Over Dispute with Friends

Chas Pravdy - 13 October 2025 10:25

An alarming incident occurred at Kyiv’s Obolon metro station when a group of teenagers launched a brutal attack on a 24-year-old local resident around 9:30 PM on October 12.

Witnesses and police reports reveal that five minors aged between 13 and 17, along with two adults aged 19 and 21, suddenly assaulted the man on the platform.

They beat him with fists and feet for several minutes, demonstrating reckless violence and disregard for public safety.

The police swiftly intervened, stopping the conflict and detaining all the participants.

Preliminary information indicates that the attackers claimed their actions were in response to the victim allegedly insulting their girlfriend who was nearby.

The minors were questioned, and their parents were informed about the incident.

This case is classified under Article 296, Part 2 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code — severe breach of public order committed by a group showing blatant disrespect for society.

Investigations are ongoing to establish all circumstances.

In a related context, on October 11, an anti-Semitic attack took place near a synagogue in the Obolon district.

Witnesses reported shouts of hate slogans, Nazi gestures, and the use of tear gas against a member of the religious community.

Earlier that morning, police discovered the body of a 32-year-old Kyiv resident with a gunshot wound to the head in a car nearby; the weapon registered to the victim was found at the scene.

Sources indicate that the victim was well-known crypto blogger Kostiantyn Kudo Hanich.

These incidents highlight the tense situation in Kyiv, where violence, conflicts, and rising crime continue to alarm residents and law enforcement authorities alike.
