Serbian President expresses disappointment over Russia’s gas supply proposals and threats of blackmail

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić openly voiced his dissatisfaction and skepticism regarding recent Russian proposals related to natural gas supplies.

According to him, Serbia received a gas supply contract only until the end of this year, which caused him great disappointment and concern.

Vučić emphasized that the agreement was supposed to be finalized by May, but Russia offered a shorter timeframe due to what Moscow is allegedly using as leverage.

The president pointed out that such behavior raises fears of political motives, with Russia allegedly attempting to use the gas factor as a pressure tool on Serbia, particularly in the context of potential nationalization actions, including concerning the NIS company.

Vučić stressed that Serbia currently has no plans to nationalize NIS but acknowledged that the situation remains tense amid possible geopolitical maneuvers.
