Russian Attacks on Railway Infrastructure in Chernihiv Using Guided Shahed Drones

Chas Pravdy - 12 October 2025 06:14

Recent missile strikes by Russian forces targeted railway infrastructure in the Nizhyn district of Chernihiv region, raising concerns about new potential frontlines in this area.

Ukrainian electronics and communication expert Serhii Beskrestnov reported that Moscow used guided Shahed drones—unmanned aerial vehicles designed for precision strikes—aiming at railway tracks and moving targets.

The drones were launched multiple times, trying to optimize the impact on the designated objectives.

The Telegram channel «About communication from Serhii Flash» describes these drones as «large, unwieldy FPV with a 50-kilogram warhead, controlled from Russia.» Notable features include a tail antenna and forward-facing camera, giving operators the ability to execute precise online control.

Previously, the expert noted that deploying such drones against mobile targets is quite limited; their main effectiveness is on large, stationary objects like locomotives and train compositions, which suggests that current incidents are consistent with this understanding.
