Belarus amplifies tension near Ukrainian borders through readiness checks

Chas Pravdy - 12 October 2025 00:24

Official representatives of Ukraine, along with border security forces, are warning of increasing tension along the Ukrainian-Belarusian border.

According to Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, despite official statements about moving Belarusian troops into a heightened state of combat readiness, Minsk has not shown any active mobilization or troop movements toward the border, which raises concerns.

Demchenko emphasized that such readiness checks are a prolonged and systematic process performed by Belarus to demonstrate strength and conduct joint exercises, including recent ones with Russia.

While the threat persists, experts advise Ukraine to remain vigilant and objectively assess the situation.

Data from military and border structures indicate that there are currently no signs of active troop or equipment movements toward Ukraine.

Demchenko stated that Belarus still maintains certain units near Ukrainian territory, explaining this as a measure to ‘fortify the area’ due to perceived threats from Ukraine.

However, he assures that at this stage, there are no immediate threats or indications of preparatory actions for aggression from Belarus.

The situation remains under control, and Ukrainian forces continue strengthening borders and maintaining defensive positions against potential threats from Belarus.

The overall assessment remains that the region is tense, and Ukraine must be prepared for various scenarios, considering past events such as the full-scale invasion in 2022 initiated through this direction.
