Zelensky Briefs Canadian Prime Minister on Phone Talks with Trump Amid Ukraine War
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky engaged in a significant phone conversation with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, during which detailed discussions took place regarding collaboration with the United States in the context of Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
Zelensky informed Carney about his contacts with U.S.
President Donald Trump, which are crucial to Ukraine’s defense and security.
Special attention was paid to the ongoing military situation, notably Russia’s devastating missile strikes targeting energy infrastructure and civilian settlements.
The President emphasized the urgent need for swift and coordinated steps to bolster the country’s energy defense and reduce vulnerabilities to future attacks.
Furthermore, the United States and Canada are boosting cooperation under the PURL program, aimed at purchasing American military equipment for Ukraine with the support of NATO allies.
Canada has already made significant contributions to this initiative, and there is potential for expanded involvement.
Zelensky and Carney also discussed plans to strengthen joint efforts within the ‘Decisive Coalition,’ which holds strategic importance for Ukraine’s stability and security.
It is noteworthy that Zelensky’s recent Saturday phone call with Trump centered around the potential provision of long-range missiles like the Tomahawk, which could significantly shift the tactical balance on the battlefield.
