Ukrainian tennis player Vitalii Sachko makes sensational breakthrough at French tournament, defeating top-ranked global rivals

Vitalii Sachko, a Ukrainian professional tennis player, has astonished the sports world with an unexpected victory at the prestigious ATP 250 tournament in Metz, France.

His achievement has turned heads as he managed to defeat a seasoned opponent, the 13th ranked in the world, Alexander Bublik from Kazakhstan, in a dramatic three-set match lasting over two hours.

The 28-year-old athlete, currently ranked 222nd globally, showcased exceptional skill by winning with scores of 7:5, 3:6, 7:5.

This victory ranks as the highest in Sachko’s career, highlighting his rapid rise in the international tennis scene.

Notably, this milestone makes him the first Ukrainian player since 2021 to win a main draw match at an ATP tournament.

He opened the tournament with a confident win against Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, with scores of 7:6, 6:3.

In the quarterfinals, he will face fellow Frenchman Clément Tabur, who is ranked 243rd in the ATP rankings.

Although Sachko lost to Tabur in the qualifying rounds, his recent success as a lucky loser demonstrates his resilience and determination.

This achievement has already attracted considerable attention within the tennis community, as he now advances to compete in the tournament’s semifinals, bolstering Ukraine’s presence on the world tennis map.
