Ukrainian Athletes to Receive Substantial Prize Money for Medals at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo
The prize amounts for Ukrainian athletes winning medals at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, scheduled to take place in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, have been announced.
According to the president of the National Olympic Committee, Vadym Huttsait, the monetary rewards will be higher compared to previous games, with a gold medal earning athletes a prize of $125,000 — the same as for their Summer Olympics counterparts in Paris.
Silver medalists will receive $80,000, while bronze medalists will get $55,000.
During the 2024 Summer Olympics, Ukraine paid $100,000 for silver medals and $80,000 for bronze.
Currently, Ukrainian athletes have secured 18 qualification licenses, with hopes of increasing participation to around 40 athletes after all qualification events conclude.
At the 2022 Winter Olympics, Ukraine won only one medal — a silver in team acrobatics, earned by Oleksandr Abramenko.
The 2026 Winter Games are scheduled from February 6 to 22 and will be hosted by Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo in Italy.
It is notable that Russian skiers have been barred from participating in both the Winter Olympics and Paralympics, even in neutral status.
Additionally, the Ukrainian team’s official uniform for the 2026 Games has been previously unveiled, reflecting the team’s readiness and preparations for the upcoming competitions.
