Exciting Victory for Dynamo: Kyiv Club Secures Dramatic Win Over Shakhtar in Ukrainian Cup

On Wednesday, October 29, a highly anticipated and intense football clash took place between two of Ukraine’s leading clubs — Dynamo Kyiv and Shakhtar Donetsk — at the Valeriy Lobanovskyi Stadium in Kyiv.

Initially, the match appeared to lean in favor of the visitors from the Donbas region, who created several dangerous moments and threatened the goal of goalkeeper Yuriy Neshcheret, but they failed to score in the first half.After the break, the game dynamics shifted.

On the 49th minute, Meirelles opened the scoring with a header following a precise pass from Pedrinho, which sparked a more aggressive attempt by Dynamo Kyiv.

Toward the end of the second half, Kyiv intensified their attacks.

Yarmolenko, receiving the ball in the penalty area, scored accurately into the far corner, and shortly afterward, Guerrero levelled the score after a save by Rizhnik, putting Dynamo ahead 2-1.

The Kyiv team then confidently defended their lead and secured a significant victory in this prominent rivalry.Goals scored: Yarmolenko (72nd minute), Guerrero (79th minute) for Dynamo Kyiv; Meirelles (49th minute) for Shakhtar.

Dynamo Kyiv lineup included Neshcheret in goal, Karavaev and Timić in defense, Popov, Mikhavko, Vivcharenko, Mikhaylenko with Brazhko, Pikholonok, Ogundana, Kabayev, Biyalovsky, and Yarmolenko (substituted by Guerrero in the 75th minute).

Shakhtar’s lineup featured Rizhnik, Konoplya, Bondar (replaced by Marlon Santos in the 86th minute), Matvijenko, Pedro Henrique, Ocheretko (substituted by Bondarenko in the 81st), Marlon Gomez (subbed in for I zak in the 86th), Pedrinho, Eginaldo, Nertson (came on for Lucas in the 71st), as well as Meirelles and Elias.Dynamo advanced to the Ukrainian Cup quarter-finals, while Shakhtar bowed out of the tournament.

It is worth noting that Shakhtar is the current cup holder, having won on penalties (6-5) after a 1-1 draw in regular time.

Previously, Dynamo Kyiv had defeated Kryvbas in the central match of the Ukrainian Premier League round and earlier secured a commanding victory over Kryvbas.
