Tense Situation Before Ukraine — Azerbaijan Match: Problems in the Azerbaijani Team

Chas Pravdy - 12 October 2025 11:18

Ahead of their crucial World Cup 2026 qualifiers, Azerbaijan’s national football team faced unexpected logistical challenges that could potentially hamper their preparation for the upcoming match.

According to Sport.ua journalists, essential team belongings of the Azerbaijani players were not loaded onto their flight to Poland, where their first training session was scheduled.

This caused significant confusion, resulting in the team being unable to start their training as planned.

The match, set to take place on October 13 in Kraków, Poland, is an important step in the qualification process — it is nominally a home game for Ukraine, although it will be played abroad due to the ongoing war.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 21:45 Kyiv time.

It is also noteworthy that in their first encounter in Baku, the teams played to a 1:1 draw.

Additionally, Ukraine’s team leader will miss this match due to a shoulder injury, adding an extra layer of tension to the qualifiers.
