Georgiy Sudakov to miss Ukraine national team’s match against Azerbaijan due to shoulder injury
The key player of the Ukraine national football team, 23-year-old midfielder Georgiy Sudakov, will be unable to participate in tomorrow’s World Cup qualification match against Azerbaijan due to a shoulder injury.
He announced this himself on his Instagram stories, expressing disappointment over missing the game and wishing his team success in the upcoming match.
Sudakov, who currently plays for Portuguese club Benfica, was on the field in the starting lineup during Ukraine’s crucial 5:3 victory over Iceland on October 10, but was substituted in the 39th minute due to his shoulder injury.
Following the game, the player posted photos on social media showing his arm in a brace, indicating the severity of his injury.
The upcoming match against Azerbaijan, which is officially considered a home game for Ukraine, will be held in Kraków, Poland, due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The match is scheduled for October 13 and will kick off at 21:45 Kyiv time.
Fans and experts anticipate a tense contest and hope for Ukraine’s victory despite the difficulties faced.
Previously, bookmakers assessed Ukraine’s chances in this crucial game quite favorably, predicting a tough fight for a spot in the 2026 World Cup finals.
