Ukrainian goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin becomes the most valuable non-top league goalkeeper in Europe

Ukrainian goalkeeper, currently playing for Portuguese club Benfica, Anatoliy Trubin, has established himself as the most valuable goalkeeper outside Europe’s top five leagues.
According to the reputable International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES Football Observatory), his transfer value is estimated at a striking 46.6 million euros, which comes as a surprise to many experts.
Meanwhile, in the ranking of the most expensive goalkeepers compiled by the same center, the Ukrainian keeper holds a prominent position among foreign players and valuable talents, significantly outranking many of his peers from top leagues.
In the ranking’s top spots are other players from Europe’s elite divisions, while among Ukrainian defenders, Dmytro Riznyk from Shakhtar Donetsk stands out with an estimated value of 10.1 million euros.
It is notable that Trubin transferred to Benfica in August 2023, signing a contract until 2028, demonstrating the club’s confidence in him.
Since then, he has become the starting goalkeeper for the Lisbon-based team and has played in all competitions, including Champions League matches, totaling ten appearances so far this season.
Trubin’s pivotal role in helping Benfica reach the Champions League group stage marks a significant achievement for both the club and the Ukrainian goalkeeper.
Furthermore, the team is currently undergoing coaching staff reforms, with reports indicating that the head coach was dismissed earlier this year, which could lead to a new dynamic within the squad and further development opportunities for Trubin at Benfica.
