On the night of Thursday, September 25, Ukrainian railway infrastructure suffered significant damage as a result of missile and bomb attacks by Russian forces.

The enemy shelling caused power outages in four railway sections, posing serious challenges to train operations and leading to numerous delays in departures and arrivals.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far, but damage to critical railway infrastructure objects results in substantial delays and disruptions to the train schedules.According to official information from Ukrzaliznytsia, as of the morning of September 25, significant delays affected several routes.

For example, train №53/54 Odessa – Dnipro was delayed by over five hours; train №253/254 Odessa – Kryvyi Rih was similarly delayed.

Other routes, including Odessa – Kharkiv and Kyiv – Odessa, as well as Lviv – Zaporizhzhia, Peremyshl – Zaporizhzhia, and Zaporizhzhia – Odessa trains, experienced delays from an hour to several minutes. This situation occurs amid reports of Russia adopting a new tactic of strikes aimed at critical Ukrainian railway hubs and electrical substations, deploying up to seven drones daily since mid-summer.

The strategic goal appears to be systematically damaging Ukraine’s transport network, which is vital for logistics and defense.

Repair and restoration works are ongoing, but the recent attacks significantly complicate the efforts of Ukrainian railway workers and passengers, forcing them to endure delays and schedule adjustments.
