Oleksandr Usyk Participates in Charitable Football Match in Lisbon to Support Ukrainian Philanthropy

A landmark event took place in Lisbon, Portugal, where renowned Ukrainian boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk not only contributed his efforts to a prestigious football match but also made a significant charitable contribution.
The 24-division world champion in the heavyweight category took part in a legends’ match between Portugal’s Legends and World Legends teams.
Although Usyk’s appearance lasted only 17 minutes, his involvement in this charitable sporting event served as a powerful testament to modern trends — sports as a tool for aid and unity.
Oleksandr came onto the field as part of the World Legends team in the second half, replacing Henrik Larsson, and was shortly thereafter substituted by Yuriy Jorkaef.
Known for his physical endurance and technical mastery, the boxer made several attempts at scoring, including performing a skillful backheel shot that impressed spectators.
Organizers emphasize that the main goal of this event was to raise over a million euros to support the Ukrainian Red Cross and Usyk Foundation.
Despite the final score of 1:4 in favor of Portugal Legends, the efforts of all participants are impactful in the realm of charity.
Famous players and coaches from both teams, including legends like Petr Čech, Luís Figo, and Cristiano Ronaldo, helped make this match more than a sporting event — a platform for humanitarian aid.
It is worth noting that in 2023, Usyk signed an official contract with Ukraine’s Premier League club Polissya, having previously played for the team in the friendly Winter Cup-2022 tournament.
This underlines his active support for Ukrainian football and sports community.
Today, he is not only a successful professional boxer but also an active public figure, embodying the idea that sports are a force capable of uniting and assisting those in need.
