Repair Operations and Train Route Changes in Kyiv Region Following Railway Infrastructure Incidents
Due to significant damages to the railway infrastructure caused by explosions in the Kyiv region, over twenty passenger trains have had to reroute their journeys to ensure safety and reduce delays for thousands of travelers.
According to Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, the situation with train movement remains tense, but all necessary measures are being taken to restore normal operations as quickly as possible.
As of 3 PM, more than 28 passenger trains had to modify their routes due to damage near Boryspil station in the Kyiv region.
Delays range from one to up to three hours, a transient but necessary inconvenience.
Ukrzaliznytsia, in close cooperation with the State Border Service of Ukraine and Polish border authorities, is implementing additional control procedures aimed at minimizing stoppage times and maintaining international connections.
Since commuter train services have been restricted in the affected area, alternative transportation options, such as shuttle trains between Kyiv and Boryska, have been introduced.
The Kyiv Regional Military Administration has also launched expanded bus routes to serve passenger needs.
Emergency services, including the State Emergency Service and Ukrzaliznytsia, are working tirelessly to eliminate the consequences of the incident and restore regular train traffic before the evening peak.
Svyrydenko reported that all damaged rolling stock components have been cleared, with bomb experts completing additional inspections, and repair work on the tracks is nearing completion.
On the night of September 14, Ukrzaliznytsia announced route changes for several passenger trains following the incidents near Boryspil.
Regional head Mykola Kalahnik confirmed that an extraordinary event had occurred in Fastiv district, damaging railway infrastructure and resulting in the cancellation or rerouting of several regional trains.
Official investigations have been launched into safety violations related to railway operations.
All these measures aim not only to ensure passenger safety but also to prevent future incidents and mitigate disruptions in the transportation system of the region.
