Ukrainian Tennis Team Begins Season with Two Commanding Wins in Davis Cup

The Ukrainian national tennis team launched the new season with a decisive start, securing two impressive victories in their opening matches against the Dominican Republic team during the second round of the Davis Cup.
The event is taking place in the warm resort city of Antalya, Turkey, and is one of the most significant team tennis competitions worldwide.
Ukrainian players have shown a high level of preparedness and fighting spirit, fueling hopes for a successful run in upcoming rounds.
In the first match of the day, Vladyslav Orlov confidently defeated Roberto Seda Suberví with a score of 6:2, 6:1, giving Ukraine the initial advantage.
In the second match, Vyacheslav Belinsky demonstrated resilience by overcoming Peter Bertrand in three sets — 6:4, 4:6, 7:6.
Notably, in the final set, Ukrainian player led 5:3 but lost the advantage, yet managed to save three match points on Bertrand’s serve and won the tiebreak, turning the tide in his favor.
As a result, Ukraine took a 2:0 lead in the confrontation, marking a significant step forward.
On Saturday, September 13, the doubles match will feature Oleksii Krutykh and Oleksandr Ovcharenko.
The winner of this tie will advance to the playoffs of the World Group and has a chance to secure a spot in the elite competition for the 2026 season.
Earlier this season, Ukrainian players faced a setback, losing to Tunisia 2:3 and dropping to the Second Group.
However, they are determined to bounce back, demonstrate their skill, and restore their standing in international tennis.
