Ukrainian Boxer Jasan Secures Victory and Guarantees a Medal at the World Championship

At the global boxing forum taking place in Liverpool, England, Ukrainian athlete Danylo Jasan showcased remarkable skill and determination, reaching the semifinals in the under 85 kg weight category.
This achievement guarantees him a medal at the world level, a significant honor and recognition for Ukrainian boxing.
In the initial bouts, Jasan confidently defeated German opponent Ammar Abduljabbar, and in the subsequent match, he overcame Irishman Bryan Lee Kennedy by knocking him down in the second round.
The match was highly intense and short, ending prematurely due to an injury sustained by Kennedy.
In the quarterfinals, the Ukrainian faced experienced Georgian boxer Georgiy Kushitashvili, a former European champion and 2023 world bronze medalist.
Unfortunately, the Georgian suffered a cut in a very brief and fierce contest, which led the judges to award victory to Jasan with a score of 4:1.
This result secured his spot in the semifinals, which automatically awarded him a bronze medal, as the tournament rules do not feature a third-place match — both losing semifinalists earn bronze medals.
This accomplishment is not only a personal and team success but also a powerful symbol for Ukrainian boxing on the world stage, especially as this championship is organized under the auspices of new entity — World Boxing — aiming to replace the International Boxing Association (IBA) led by Russian Umár Kremlev to preserve the sport’s inclusion in the Olympic program.
It is worth noting that the Ukrainian team derives inspiration from Jasan’s success, and his performance continues to be crucial for uplifting national morale amid ongoing challenges.
Meanwhile, the international boxing scene becomes increasingly interesting as this new organization lays the groundwork for a new era in this demanding sport.
