The vibrant city of Madrid is set to host one of the most anticipated sporting events — the final of the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League season.

This decision was announced at the UEFA Executive Committee meeting held in the Albanian capital, Tirana.

According to officials, the final match will take place at the renowned Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, which serves as the home ground of Atlético Madrid.

The stadium has a capacity of nearly 71,000 spectators and was opened in 2017.

Just two years after its inauguration, it hosted the 2019 Champions League final between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

Moreover, in August this year, UEFA approved a change in the start time of the final, now scheduled for 7:00 PM local time, aiming to improve broadcast conditions and enhance the experience for fans worldwide.

Meanwhile, the final of the 2025/26 season will be held in Budapest at the Puskás Arena on May 30, marking the conclusion of the 71st edition of Europe’s premier club tournament.

The current titleholders are Paris Saint-Germain, who convincingly defeated Inter Milan 5:0 in the previous final held in Munich.

It is also noteworthy that, for the first time in 20 years, Ukrainian clubs failed to qualify for the Champions League knockout phase, highlighting the challenging situation for Ukrainian football.

Previously, all participants of the main tournament stage were announced, and now fans await the start of exciting matches promising to bring significant changes to European club football.
