Following a crucial match in the 2026 World Cup qualification cycle, where the Ukrainian national team played to a draw against Azerbaijan, details emerged about the reaction of head coach Serhii Rebrov, which left a significant impression in the team’s locker room.

Responding to journalists, Ukrainian team captain Mykola Matvienko described Rebrov as consistently composed and reserved in his reactions immediately after the game, emphasizing that it is generally inappropriate to react emotionally right away.

“Rebrov always keeps his emotions in check, and we observe that his demeanor is usually calm and cautious.

After matches, we often take time to analyze and thoroughly review our performances to draw the proper conclusions and improve as a team,” explained the captain.

Recall that in the first round, Ukraine was defeated by France with a score of 0:2 in Poland, while Azerbaijan suffered a heavy 0:5 defeat at the hands of Iceland.

In the recent game on August 9 in Baku, Rebrov’s team managed to secure a 1:1 draw with Azerbaijan, narrowly missing out on victory at the end.

The Ukrainians are scheduled for their next away match against Iceland on October 10, with fans hoping for a positive result.

Rebrov previously called on supporters to be patient and continue supporting the team despite the results, emphasizing the importance of patience and faith in the team’s progress.
