Zhytomyr-based football club Polissya has announced a significant leadership change that promises to bring new energy and expertise to the team.

Oleksandr Khatskevich, a legendary figure in Ukrainian and Eastern European football, has been appointed as the club’s vice-president.

This decision was made personally by the club’s president, Gennadiy Butkevich, aiming to leverage Khatskevich’s extensive experience and reputation within the football community to elevate the club’s performance and organizational maturity.

Khatskevich is well known not only as a talented former player of Dynamo Kyiv, where he left a lasting legacy, but also as a successful coach who has twice led Kyiv’s main team.

Recently, he managed teams on Cyprus and in Poland, further demonstrating his coaching credentials.

His arrival is expected to significantly strengthen Polissya’s strategic development, as his leadership qualities and deep respect among football professionals are seen as crucial assets.

The club’s current head coach, Ruslan Rotań, a former Dynamo player himself, continues to manage the team on the pitch.

Despite recent setbacks, including a few defeats in the Ukrainian Premier League and an exit from the Europa Conference League, the club remains committed to improving performance and fighting for higher placements in the standings.

The appointment of Khatskevich underscores the ambitious plans of Polissya to build a competitive squad capable of challenging stronger clubs and returning to European competitions.

The club’s management and fans alike welcome this new chapter, hopeful that Khatskevich’s influence will help achieve new successes and restore the team’s competitive edge.
