Italy Wins Women’s Volleyball World Championship for the Second Time in History

In an intense and thrilling final match, the Italian women’s volleyball team clinched their second-ever world championship title by defeating Turkey.
This victory was especially significant for the Italian players, as it marked the return of the prestigious trophy to the country after nearly 23 years.
The decisive game, held in Thailand during the 2025 World Championship, was filled with dramatic moments and unpredictable turns.
The Italians found themselves down two sets but refused to give up, rallying back to push the match into a decisive tiebreak.
The match concluded with Italy winning the tie-break 15:8, securing a hard-fought 3:2 victory.
This triumph marked Italy’s second world championship win in women’s volleyball history; the first was in 2002.
Between these victories, the Italian team reached the finals once more in 2018 but lost to Serbia.
Meanwhile, Ukraine also competed but was unable to advance past the group stage after losing to Japan in a five-set match (2:3).
The Japanese team ultimately lost the bronze medal match to Brazil in another tough five-set battle.

Additionally, the Ukrainian women’s volleyball team secured their third EuroLeague Gold medal, adding to their list of achievements.
