Train Delays and Repair Works in Donetsk Region Due to Enemy Shelling

Following another evening attack by Russian forces that resulted in significant damage to railway infrastructure in the Donetsk region, disruptions to train operations have been reported.

Repair crews are currently working to restore damaged tracks and contact networks, with full restoration likely not to be completed before the end of the day.

To mitigate the inconvenience for passengers, eight backup buses are operating from Sloviansk, assisting in transportation across the affected railway sections.

Additionally, suburban trains heading towards Kramatorsk will be limited to Banishive station until the end of the day.

All affected routes are detailed on the official Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) social media channels.

Long-distance and intercity trains passing through Donetsk are experiencing delays, and the Kramatorsk intercity route will operate with a reserve locomotive that runs without electrification inside the passenger cars.

It is also noted that Russian shelling caused power outages on a railway segment near Sloviansk, complicating train movements.

These temporary measures are part of broader efforts to ensure transportation safety and stability amid ongoing hostilities. Moreover, Ukrzaliznytsia announced plans to enhance its backup transportation systems and inform passengers about potential delays through official communication channels.

Soon, new train routes are expected to launch, and the company continues working on restoring and strengthening railway infrastructure in the region.

In addition, new routes connecting Ukraine to the European Union—such as Uzhhorod to Bratislava, Vienna, and Budapest—are set to open, representing an essential step toward expanding transportation options and European integration of Ukraine’s railway system.
