Kyiv’s Dynamo signs promising Nigerian midfielder Sholu Ogundana from Brazil’s Flamengo

Ukrainian football club Dynamo Kyiv has announced a significant acquisition that could impact their squad’s future development — the signing of Nigerian midfielder Sholu Ogundana, previously a player for the Brazilian club Flamengo.
According to official sources from the club’s website, the 20-year-old midfielder has inked a four-year contract, positioning him as an integral part of Dynamo’s plans for the coming seasons.
This news marks an important milestone not only for Ukrainian football but also adds a fresh international element to the squad.
Ogundana’s journey in 2023 began with his loan move from Nigeria’s top league to Flamengo, and by summer 2024, Flamengo exercised their buyout option, acquiring him for 450,000 euros.
Reports from the portal TattoTaka indicate that Dynamo negotiated a modest transfer fee while Flamengo retained 50% of the player’s rights, illustrating a mutually beneficial agreement.
Over the course of 2023, Ogundana appeared in 25 matches, scoring four goals and providing three assists for Flamengo’s U-20 youth team.
His previous season saw him win the Copa Libertadores Youth Championship and the Intercontinental Cup with Flamengo’s youth squad.
He has also made four appearances for Flamengo’s main team, becoming the first Nigerian footballer to represent the club in its entire history.
This transfer signifies Dynamo’s ongoing commitment to nurturing young talent and expanding their international reach.
Additionally, recent reports highlight that another Dynamo player, Vanat, transferred to a Spanish club, reflecting Ukraine’s active presence in European football markets.
