The renowned Ukrainian football club «Shakhtar» from Donetsk faces significant setbacks ahead of an important European competition fixture.

The team’s primary winger, 22-year-old Brazilian Kevin, will be unable to help his teammates in the first leg of the third qualifying round of the Europa League against Greek club «Panathinaikos».

According to sources, including Tribuna.com, Kevin missed the game in Athens due to an injury sustained during training, which prevented his travel.

In the new season, Kevin has quickly established himself as a key player under head coach Arda Turan.

He has already participated in three matches in the Europa League qualification, scoring four goals and providing two assists, showing his high level of form.

The match between the teams will be held on August 7 in Athens, with kickoff scheduled for 9:00 PM Kyiv time.

The return leg is set for August 14 in Kraków, Poland, where «Shakhtar» will have an opportunity to make a comeback and advance further in the tournament.

Notably, during the previous stage, the «miners» defeated Turkish «Beşiktaş» with two victories — 4:2 and 2:0.

Moreover, «Shakhtar» has already started its new season in the Ukrainian Premier League with a narrow victory over a debutant team.

Additionally, potential future opponents for Ukrainian club leaders — «Dynamo», «Shakhtar», and «Polissya» — are being discussed, as they prepare for their European adventures this season.
