Ukrainian tennis star Elina Svitolina, ranked 13th in the WTA rankings, has secured a significant victory at one of the season's most prestigious tennis events — the WTA 1000 tournament in Montreal.

This achievement further underscores her high skill level and dedication to the sport.

In the Round of 16 match, which lasted approximately an hour and a half, Svitolina comfortably defeated American player Amanda Anisimova, currently ranked seventh in the WTA and a Wimbledon finalist this season.

The match ended with scores of 6-4, 6-1 in favor of the Ukrainian athlete.

During the game, Svitolina successfully served four aces, committed three double faults, and converted four of her seven break points efficiently.

Post-match, she shared her impressions: “Today I played a fantastic match.

I enjoyed moving well and hitting my shots, especially considering how strongly Amanda hits the ball.

I had to be physically resilient and focused to maintain a high level throughout the match.

I am very happy that I managed to finish this game on a positive note.” It is noteworthy that Anisimova remains one of the top players globally, with her participation representing a significant achievement.

In the upcoming quarterfinal, Svitolina will face Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka, one of the main contenders for the title in this category.

Earlier reports indicated that Svitolina recorded the most wins on clay courts in 2025, but also missed her chance to compete in the third round at Wimbledon-2025.
