Ukrzaliznytsia Implements Digital Passenger Verification via Dii.Pidpys in Pilot Initiative

Starting from August, Ukraine's national railway company, Ukrzaliznytsia, has launched an ambitious pilot project aimed at enhancing passenger identification processes through digital technologies on select domestic routes.
This initiative is part of broader efforts to improve security, combat abuse, and prevent ticket reselling on popular train lines.
According to official reports, the new verification method will be implemented beginning August 1 on three main train routes: Kyiv-Uzhhorod, Lviv-Odessa, and Kyiv-Chop.
Passengers who wish to purchase or refund tickets for these routes through the official Ukrzaliznytsia app will be required to undergo a simple online verification using the Diia.Pidpys electronic signature, which will facilitate identity confirmation and reduce fraud risks.
For travelers without ID cards or those unable to use the app, ticket purchases remain available at designated railway ticket offices in Chop (cashier №2), Uzhhorod (cashier №2), Lviv (cashier №1), Odessa (cashiers №14 and №2), and Kyiv (cashiers №21 and №22).
The company has announced that the results of this testing phase will be carefully analyzed, with the potential for broader implementation across additional routes in the future.
This measure follows recent updates and new route additions announced by Ukrzaliznytsia in August, emphasizing ongoing efforts to modernize the railway service and improve passenger safety and convenience.
