An important update has been made on the official website of the Ukrainian Football Association regarding the upcoming matches of the Ukrainian national team in the qualification rounds for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to the announcement, Ukraine’s home game in the qualifiers against France will be played in Poland, specifically in the city of Wrocław.
The match is scheduled for September 5th at the Municipal Stadium, with the kickoff set for 9:45 PM Kyiv time.
Although officially considered an away game, this fixture essentially functions as a home match for Ukraine.
This arrangement is due to the ongoing full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia, which has prevented the national team from hosting matches on its own soil.
Ukraine’s team will compete in Group D alongside France, Iceland, and Azerbaijan.
The squad, led by coach Serhiy Rebrov, previously participated in a friendly tournament in Canada, where they suffered a 2-4 defeat against the local team but secured a 2-1 victory over New Zealand.
The 2026 World Cup tournament itself will be held from June 11 to July 19 across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Earlier, reports indicated a decline in Ukraine’s FIFA ranking, reflecting recent challenges faced by the national team.
