Tbilisi sharply criticizes EU report on Georgia, accusing it of political manipulation
Tbilisi responded strongly to the latest European Commission report, which detailed Georgia’s regression in its path toward the European Union.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia called the document ‘unsubstantiated’ and expressed disagreement with certain conclusions.
Officials stated that the report was not unexpected and primarily served as a political tool for speculation rather than a genuine assessment.
Georgia emphasized that the country continues to fulfill its obligations under the Association Agreement with the EU and opposes attempts to exploit potential EU membership as a political advantage.
Meanwhile, the Ministry stressed its commitment to European integration and underscored that Georgia maintains its strategic course toward closer ties with Europe.
On November 4th, the European Commission published its annual enlargement report for 2025, which highlighted both progress and regression among candidate countries.
Brussels expressed serious concern about the deteriorating situation in Georgia, with EU foreign policy representative Kaja Kallas stating that Georgia is the only country showing regression on the path to EU membership.
Ukraine, in this context, can analyze these developments, considering its successful reforms and ongoing challenges, especially in strengthening its EU integration efforts.
