New Moldovan Prime Minister Announces Significant Changes in His Financial Situation
The newly appointed Prime Minister of Moldova, Alexandru Munteanu, publicly disclosed a notable shift in his financial standing, revealing that his earnings in this high-ranking position will be substantially lower than during his previous business career.
According to his statements, his monthly salary will be approximately 20,000 Moldovan lei, equating to around 1,000 euros.
He mentioned that additional allowances during business trips would not exceed the sums he earned earlier as a businessman, which totaled over 162,000 lei annually.
Interestingly, the previous prime minister, Dorin Recean, received a similar salary.
However, some ministers earned considerably more.
For instance, Vice Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian and Minister of Justice Veronica Mikhailov-Moraru received approximately 51,000 lei each, while the Minister of Education earned about 44,000 lei.
When asked about this situation, Munteanu stated that he was satisfied with his current salary but admitted that it might not be enough to maintain his usual lifestyle.
“Everything is fine; I will manage,” he said.
He added that he would need to discuss this with his wife and perhaps reduce expenses by using family savings.
Notably, before becoming Prime Minister, Munteanu had spent nearly 20 years living in Ukraine and involved himself in various business ventures.
This financial shift marks a significant change in his status and has attracted considerable public attention both within Moldova and internationally.
