Searches at NABU: A New Escalation in Tensions Between Law Enforcement Agencies and State Bodies

Chas Pravdy - 04 November 2025 15:47

In the early hours of today, it became known that employees of the Office of the General Prosecutor, led by prosecutors and special forces, conducted a sudden and unexpected search at the offices of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU).

The operation took place around 3 a.m.

and was carried out without prior court approval, raising serious questions about the legality and grounds of such actions.

According to sources within NABU, this involved an operational officer suspected of performing official duties, though no formal suspicion has been announced against him.

It is known that during the search, physical force was used, which raises additional concerns about adherence to procedural and human rights standards.

NABU reports that these actions are illegal and emphasizes that the officer involved consistently operates within Ukrainian law, dealing with documentation related to corruption cases.

Prior to the raid, covert surveillance was reportedly conducted on this officer.

Investigations into the circumstances and possible persons involved are ongoing.

This incident triggers significant concern and questions regarding the independence of law enforcement agencies and potential political influence impacting their work.

In the broader context, discussions continue about preserving the autonomy of anti-corruption institutions and their ability to effectively combat corruption free from external pressure, which currently erodes public trust in the leadership of the security system.
